The first ever Roots n Raw Concert
Yey!!! LegallyGorgeous just told me that she had a lot of fun at the Roots n Raw Concert that held last sunday 21st June 2015. If you follow me on Instagram you might know that legallygorgeous was one of the two winners at last weeks #ChiomaJenniGiveAway on Instagram, where i gave away 2 tickets to the organic music and poetry concert (to partake in giveaways follow me on IG here).
Of course i know she had fun, I was there - in my serious/casual blazer and shorts look (I have a pic of the look on IG) - and i know i really enjoyed myself, but it felt good hearing it from her because I really don't want anyone to win things from me that they wouldn't enjoy.

The concert was hosted at Suneo Wellness center lounge area and had several talented musicians and a poet perform different types of poetry and music.

The poet - Dike Chukwumerije - was my favorite act of the night. I am always amazed at how naturally he engages his audience with his calm voice. It was great that he didn't just come out, perform and go back in, but told stories about Love, freedom, dreams as well. And even when he forgot some lines from his poems, it was still ok because his performance was more like a story that had us laughing, cringing or shaking out heads.

My next favorite act was CEF's. He is a talented guitarist and his songs are still ringing in my head right now (especially 'put your love in my piggy bank'). It was obvious he was trying his best to make his music as organic and raw as possible as he worked with several different instruments including calabashes and gongs. He collaborated with several acts - including a Mallam, an igbo musican and other guitarists - and also tried a go-with-the-flow approach where he infused several unrehearsed dialogues and performances. I liked the mixture of sounds and music but I didn't really like the unrehearsed bits and i think there were too many of them in CEF's performance... I mean, it was a paid show, if people are going to pay for tickets please don't experiment in front of them.

After the event was over, an artist called Age came on stage and got us all dancing. That was legallygorgeous's best part (i think) because she danced wella!! she danced shoki, alanta, kukere even... lol. I made a lot of noise but didnt dance much.
all in all it was a great night with great music and really nice 'arty' people and i would definitely go for the next one. Where you there? What did you think about it?
